Playbook Advisory has been engaged to sell the assets of a growing and extremely profitable Japanese market and food court located in the Chicago Suburbs. This truly one of a kind business does approximately $6mm in annual revenue and has excellent reviews across all its social media channels. The Company has few competitors and an incredibly large and loyal customer base from all over the Greater Chicago area. The Company has recently started a shipping program to send its products to customers all over the Midwest.
The Company has been a family owned and operated business for almost 20 years and prides itself on having the best selection of Japanese grocery items and the freshest sushi on the market. The food court, which doles out sushi, noodles, and other entrees brings in approximately $2mm in annual revenue. The Company receives daily shipments of wild-caught fish and seafood from Alaska, Hawaii, New England, and Seattle. It uses the highest grade rice in its sushi and its other ingredients are guaranteed fresh. The Company prides itself on its fresh seafood and wide variety of sushi and sashimi options. The Company has built an excellent reputation based on providing authentic cuisine with outstanding service at affordable prices. The Company employs a full time sushi manager and a full time food court manager, as well as several chefs that know the food court offerings, both sushi and otherwise, intimately. The Company also does catering and has the opportunity to expand into the corporate catering markets.
The Company operates out of a single 10,000 sq/ft facility that includes a large grocery storefront, kitchens, and a food court style eatery that seats up to 88 patrons. The property is either leased by a third-party landlord.
A new owner has a wealth of opportunities to expand into other markets. The Company has a catering division that has excellent potential since is the only location in all of Chicago that is capable of producing large volumes of high quality sushi at reasonable prices. The Company also has an ecommerce site that allows customers all across the Midwest to purchase its products. Currently, the Company ships out 2-3 packages daily.
The Company has one other major competitor in its territory. However, despite being bigger, its competitor has lower quality product offerings and a less adaptable marketing plan.
